Welcome to new users of the toolkit! For those of you who have been using the site for a while you will have noticed the changes made to support the new Information and records management standard and guidance. Some basics below about the new website layout.
The four graphic blocks on the front page link to: the Public Records Act 2005; the new standard and guide; effective information management; and the requirements of the new Executive Sponsor role. These will be refreshed as other topics become important. Reminder: Your organisation’s nomination for Executive Sponsor is required by the 2nd of September.
You will see the top navigation tabs renamed as: Regulatory Framework, Governance, Systems Design and Operational Delivery.
Under the Regulatory framework tab you will find information about:
- Archives New Zealand’s regulatory role including the new Regulatory statement
- the statutory instruments that Archives New Zealand uses such as standards, instructions and gazette notices
- requirements for schools
- Archives New Zealand’s responsibilities for monitoring and reporting.
Governance, Systems Design and Operational Delivery tabs contain an overview of the topic on their respective landing pages and guidance for each topic. The guidance is listed in order of importance and includes links to relevant websites and international standards.
All guidance is located under Resources and Guidance (alphabetically), in the Useful Information navigation box on the left hand side of the home page. The Implementation guide also lists all of the new guidance including the standards that we refer to as best practice, for example AS/NZS ISO 13208:2012 Information and documentation – Implementation guidelines for digitization of records.
Search is through the top right search box and the site uses tags to support searching.
Archives New Zealand’s guidance on information and records management is now only published on the records toolkit. The toolkit blog is where we will let you know about any new guidance that is published and where we will post general information.
