An update on Archives New Zealand’s services after the earthquake.

The Archives Regional Offices in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin are open today (Wednesday) but we are still working to get our Wellington building open for the public.

If a public office has an urgent government loan, please email government.loans@dia.govt.nz. This email box will be monitored throughout the day.

Reading room orders for Wellington – please don’t place Wellington based orders online until further notice. If you have placed a Wellington order since the earthquake, please expect some delays. When the office reopens for normal business we will process these requests.

Remote reference requests – there will be delays in responding to these enquiries. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

We are pleased to note that following an inspection by the Chief Archivist there appears to be limited damage to the repository and workshops.

We are aware that some public offices have sustained facilities damage and others have some disruption which will affect services.  We would appreciate it if you would use our rkadvice@dia.govt.nz email as the first point of contact for support.

Please also use the rkadvice@dia.govt.nz email to get in touch with any of our advisors instead of the usual practice of contacting them directly.  This will help us to prioritise and channel inquiries effectively. Thank you and take care.
